Fred Lum

Fred Lum

Fred Lum has been shooting for The Globe and Mail since 1984. More than once, his photos have brought him Picture of the Month honours from Canadian Press. When not on the job, you can find Fred paddling his solo whitewater canoe.

He likes his work because, as he says, "I get to meet a terrific cross section of people, from Pee Wee Herman, to the Dalai Lama, to ordinary people just trying to hold their own in this world." He feels lucky that his work often gives him and his fellow photographers a front row seat to history in the making. And he still gets a buzz from seeing his pictures in The Globe.
